Fishery Notice - Fisheries & Oceans Canada

Category(s): RECREATIONAL - Salmon

Subject: FN0676-Chinook & Coho: Conuma River - Region 1 - Amendment to FN0653 - Daily Limits - Recreational Fishing Opportunity

Effective September 3 until Dec 31, 2003 the daily limit for salmon
in the Conuma River has been amended to:

- 2 Chinook salmon per day, of which only one may be greater than 77
cm in length.
- 2 coho per day, marked or unmarked

Improved Chinook escapement to the major hatchery systems on the
west coast of Vancouver Island has allowed for increased daily
limits on those river systems. This amendment also achieves
consistency with chinook and coho daily limits on the Stamp/Somass
River system and with the Allocation Policy.

Anglers are reminded that:

- the river is closed by regulation to all fishing within a 100
meter radius of the Hatchery.
- the use of single barbless hooks is mandatory in all streams
within Region 1.

- all fish foul hooked (i.e. hooked other than in the mouth) must be
returned to the river immediately.

- any chinook salmon retained measuring in excess of 50 cm must be
recorded on the reverse side of your Non-Tidal Angling Licence,

Variation Order No. 2003-392
